Case analysis: Cowin Bluetooth waterproof rod antenna provides a solution for Honeywell communication in the field of personal protection

Customer Background:
Honeywell International is a fortune 500 diversified high-tech and manufacturing company with a turnover of more than $30 billion.

Business requirements:
The antenna is waterproof and uv resistant, and the receiving signal distance is 15M. The antenna size does not exceed 30*10MM.

The challenge:
To protect the hearing of staff in high noise environment without affecting their normal reception of instructions. Console staff through the desktop or handheld machine to each operator wearing a protective ear cover to send instructions, each operator can receive instructions at the same time. Connectivity is the cornerstone of the earmuff solution. Wi-fi and cellular technologies mean that operations need to be connected more than ever, and to ensure that protective earmuffs remain truly connected with reliable real-time information, Honeywell needs high-performance Bluetooth and cellular antennas

Problem Description:
The complex working environment plays an important role in wireless signal sending and receiving. It is small in size, waterproof and uv proof for remote signal sending and receiving, which is a test of the all-round ability of engineers.

Solution:
1. In order to receive and send signals at a distance through Bluetooth, it is necessary to increase the power and the volume of the antenna. In this way, the power consumption of the equipment must be lost, which will directly affect the production schedule and experience of the staff.
2. Communicated actively with Honeywell product project research and development for many times for the engineer team, and finally set the receiving distance index as 10M according to the actual use needs.
3. According to the size of the antenna no more than 30*10MM, engineers choose spiral antenna to match the resonant frequency, darkroom test up to 3DB gain and 60% efficiency.
4. The antenna products are filled with waterproof glue to ensure that the internal structure is not affected by rainy days.
5. The plastic shell is formed by adding UV agent, which is tested by -40 ˚C ~ + 80 ˚C high and low temperature cycle for 80H without abnormal deformation and cracking.
6. After the final antenna combination, the overall size is 28*10MM long, which is qualified by Honeywell measurement and acceptance.

Economic benefits:
The customer's final product has been finalized for final preparation for later launch, which is expected to go on sale in March 2022.
