According to the research, there are more than 20 kinds of GPS antennas in the world; GPS receiver antennas have different structural types, such as monopole, dipole, spiral, microstrip and choke coil. Patch antenna is a kind of microstrip antenna.
2、 What are the main types of GPS antenna?
1. In terms of polarization mode, GPS antenna is divided into vertical polarization and circular polarization. According to the existing technology, the effect of circular polarization is better in performance. Therefore, except for special cases, the antenna of GPS module will adopt circular polarization.
2. In terms of installation and placement, GPS antenna is divided into built-in antenna and external antenna. At present, the GPS module is gradually miniaturized and integrated, so the GPS module antenna is mostly installed and placed inside. At this time, the antenna must be above all metal devices, the shell must be plated and well grounded, and away from EMI interference sources, such as CPU, SDRAM, SD card, crystal oscillator, DC / DC.
3. In terms of power supply mode, GPS antenna is divided into active antenna and passive antenna. The passive antenna does not contain a low-noise amplifier and does not need power supply. However, due to the weak strength of the unamplified GPS signal, the length of the cable from the passive antenna to the receiver generally does not exceed 1m.
The active antenna of GPS antenna is generally the antenna module to be powered, which is composed of ceramic antenna, LNA (low noise signal module), cable and connector, plus a sealed waterproof ring, that is, the so-called g-mouse.
