1、 How can LTE omnidirectional antenna and LTE directional antenna gain?
The antenna is divided into LTE omnidirectional antenna and LTE directional antenna. The antenna is a "passive component", so the antenna itself cannot add energy to the AP signal. However, when we mention the antenna, the most important index is the "gain" of the antenna. How does the antenna obtain the "gain" of signal strength?
The antenna controls the angle of signal transmission. This principle is somewhat similar to a flashlight. The flashlight relies on a concave mirror to concentrate the light at a certain angle to make the light shine farther. The flashlight and battery are equivalent to the AP device itself, while the bulb and concave mirror of the flashlight are equivalent to our antenna. If the concave mirror of the flashlight is removed, it is equivalent to using an omnidirectional antenna with small gain. The light irradiation is very scattered and the coverage distance is very close; With concave mirror, it is equivalent to using a directional antenna with high gain. The light is concentrated and covers a long distance.
The total energy of the signal is determined by the AP, and the antenna decides to concentrate these energy in a certain angle. The smaller the angle is, the higher the energy aggregation degree is, the greater the "gain" of the signal is, and the farther the signal covers; On the contrary, if the coverage angle is larger, the energy aggregation degree is lower, and the signal coverage distance is closer. This is the basic principle of antenna gain.
2、 LTE omnidirectional antenna
LTE omnidirectional antenna generally refers to the antenna with the same horizontal gain in all directions, that is, 360 degree coverage in the horizontal direction. The increase of horizontal gain depends on the decrease of vertical gain. It can be considered that the greater the omnidirectional antenna gain, the greater the coverage in the horizontal direction and the smaller the coverage in the vertical direction.
Omnidirectional antennas are often used in indoor environments. Most of the antennas provided by indoor APS are omnidirectional antennas. These antennas can be placed on the desktop, on the wall, or separately installed on the ceiling by ceiling.
3、 LTE directional antenna
LTE directional antenna does not cover 360 degrees in both vertical and horizontal directions. Generally speaking, the smaller the coverage angle is, the farther the coverage range is, just like the flashlight we talked about earlier. It is widely used in outdoor environment.
